The world produces enough food for everyone, but not everyone has enough food. For this, more than a hundred charities came together and asked us to create a Twitter-interactive video-mapping show, to raise awareness about world hunger.
We needed a spectacular building to help us tell the story, but we also needed it to have a large outdoor event-space for spectators. The majestic Somerset House, home to high-profile events such as London Fashion Week, was perfect.
The projection told the story of the hunger crisis and demonstrated how it could be overcome, with the Twitter interactivity kicking in halfway through. The projection paused to pull in live tweets from the #EnoughFoodIF hashtag, showing that only the voice of the people could unlock the solution to world hunger. Once enough tweets had been collected and displayed, the show went on to its dramatic finale.
More than 1,500 people came to Somerset House to show their support and 50,000 more signed up to the campaign online. The show reached over 96 million people via Twitter, with support from celebrities such as David Beckham and Lord Sugar. Most importantly, David Cameron responded with an official statement, within 12 hours of it the event.
